I have read a copy of this book. It all leads to doing business with one company called Handyman Network. It just says the same thing over and over. It tells you how their company is the best. All roads lead to them only. I thought it was about helping pick out a handyman but it is not.It should be called, Stay Away From Handyman Network or Only Do business With Us. This book did nothing but pump up the writers chest by making him think this book was some type of help to the consumer. Its not. I have let six other possible customers read this book and the opinions are all the same.
Four words. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!
I have had them do work for me and so has a couple of friends. That company is a rip off in their work. Bad work, high prices and even poorer customer service.
Why bother with this waste of paper. Make the company better.

I never knew there were so many things to consider when hiring a handyman! This book taught me so many things about what to look for and what to avoid during the hiring process, how to protect myself with a proper contract, and even outlined various sources for locating the proper handyman. It also dispelled many misconceptions I had about handymen in general. I can now face my home repair and improvement projects with confidence.

…helped me to learn what to look for in a contractor. It turns out that I was blissfully ignorant, and at now I know what to look for in a company and in a contract. And I LOVE all of the little tips throughout the book!

I am a big fan of relevant `how to’ books and this one does not disappoint. As a homeowner and busy professional, I’m not too handy around the house nor do I have the time to self teach myself basic repairs and improvements. Therefore, it usually falls on my wife’s shoulders to hire someone and me unjustly critiquing her on her decisions and how she goes about it. That is where this book comes in: functional steps to follow will educate and inform the homeowner on how not to be taken advantage of, and what to expect and demand when dealing with servicemen and contractors. As long as she follows through on the advice spelled out in this book, she’ll never hear a peep out of me again!

After reading this book I feel more confident about hiring a handyman, and am assured not to feel foolish for taking precautions on hiring one. I recommend everyone, especially women, read this book! Not only does it go into depth on the different types of handymen, but also has you checking yourself to see what kind of homeowner you are (a real check up from the neck up) and they provide checklists and handy tips for items around the house.
